U.S. Deports Eight ‘Illegal Aliens’ to South Sudan
(MENAFN) The United States has expelled eight individuals it referred to as “barbaric criminal illegal aliens” to South Sudan, a nation that the US State Department strongly advises against traveling to because of widespread violence, kidnappings, and ongoing armed conflicts.
The Department of Homeland Security revealed the decision on Saturday through a press release that featured images and information about the men involved — one being a South Sudanese citizen and the others originating from Cuba, Laos, Mexico, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
Each had been found guilty of offenses such as murder, sexual assault, and robbery, and were either close to finishing their prison terms or had already served them.
“These sickos were finally deported to South Sudan on Independence Day,” stated Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, emphasizing that these individuals are “so heinous even their own countries will not accept them.”
The US Supreme Court permitted the Trump administration to continue with the removal process, after the men had been held at a military facility in Djibouti for several weeks.
This followed a temporary halt imposed by a district court judge in Massachusetts who blocked the deportations.
Since his return to office in January, President Donald Trump has reinstated a series of strict immigration policies, fulfilling campaign pledges to undo what he described as the “open border” stance of his predecessor, Joe Biden.
