Brunei Launches Inaugural Large-Scale Solar-Powered Shrimp Farm

(MENAFN) Brunei has marked a groundbreaking achievement with the launch of its inaugural large-scale solar-powered shrimp aquaculture facility near Muara port on Monday.

Jets Sdn Bhd, a leading shrimp farming company, officially opened Brunei’s first net-zero emission shrimp aquaculture operation, which also serves as an artificial intelligence (AI) integration hub.

This development signals a major step forward in Brunei’s mission to modernize its aquaculture sector, focusing on the revival of blue shrimp farming—a species prized for both its nutritional benefits and market potential—according to Abdul Manaf Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism.

He emphasized that the initiative Showcases the powerful integration of clean energy production with sustainable aquaculture practices, presenting a model for future farming that reduces reliance on fossil fuels and aligns with Brunei’s net-zero targets by 2050.
