Ellen DeGeneres Chooses UK Because of Trump
Speaking to an audience in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, the comedian and presenter expressed that life "is just better" in the UK.
Ellen mentioned that she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, were contemplating renewing their marriage vows in England.
This consideration comes amid recent efforts in the US to challenge the right to gay marriage, with Ellen noting that America can still feel "scary for people to be who they are."
Addressing past controversies, Ellen spoke about allegations of a toxic work environment that contributed to the conclusion of her long-running talk show in 2022.
She admitted to sometimes being "very blunt," but dismissed the negative reports as mere "clickbait."
For three decades, Ellen was one of the most prominent figures on US television, known for her daytime chat show, her self-titled sitcom in the 1990s, hosting major award ceremonies such as the Oscars, Grammys, and Emmys, and lending her voice to the character Dory in Finding Nemo.
Following the cancellation of her talk show, she embarked on a "final stand-up tour" across the US in 2024.
Subsequently, she purchased a residence in the Cotswolds, a charming and historic region primarily covering areas of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.
