Alaska Airlines Suspends Flights
The airline reported that the decision to initiate a ground stop came after encountering an IT outage that began late Sunday evening.
A spokesperson for the airline stated, "At approximately 8 p.m. Pacific on Sunday, Alaska Airlines experienced an IT outage that’s impacting our operations."
Due to this issue, the airline sought a temporary, system-wide halt affecting both Alaska and Horizon Air flights until the problem is fixed.
Expressing regret over the disruption, the spokesperson warned that there would be ongoing "residual" effects on the airline’s schedule throughout the night.
They advised travelers to "please check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport."
An advisory on the airline’s official website also confirmed the presence of technical difficulties with its IT infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the FAA’s status page revealed that the flight suspension impacted all destinations served by Alaska Airlines’ mainline fleet.
