France Denounces Israeli Attacks in Central Gaza
(MENAFN) France on Wednesday issued a strong denunciation of Israel’s broadening military campaign into central Gaza, cautioning that the intensified operation is deepening an already catastrophic humanitarian emergency.
This crisis is characterized by severe food shortages and the looming threat of famine.
In an official statement, the French Foreign Ministry declared, "France strongly condemns the extension of the Israeli offensive to the center of Gaza, where evacuation orders have led to the displacement of tens of thousands of people in Deir el-Balah and are hampering the work of numerous United Nations agencies and international NGOs."
The ministry stressed that the ongoing military action is quickening the collapse of living conditions, which it described as “marked by malnutrition and the risk of famine.”
According to the statement, the blockade enforced by Israel is largely responsible for the dire circumstances on the ground.
The ministry voiced grave concern over the extent of civilian suffering caused by the ongoing conflict.
In a particularly forceful condemnation, it said, "France condemns in the strongest possible terms the Israeli shootings targeting Palestinians in Gaza attempting to obtain humanitarian aid, which have killed more than 1,000 people in the past two months, according to the UN."
France also reiterated its call for Israel to adhere to the temporary measures mandated by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and to meet its duties under the framework of international humanitarian law.
Finally, Paris demanded the urgent removal of all limitations on humanitarian access into Gaza, emphasizing the need for the "massive, rapid and unimpeded" distribution of aid to alleviate the worsening crisis.
