Trump Claims U.S. Tariff Revenue Will Surpass USD600B
"We have taken in, and will soon be receiving, more than 600 Billion Dollars in Tariffs, but the Fake News Media refuses to talk about it because they hate and disrespect our Country, and want to interfere with the upcoming Tariff decision, one of the most important ever, of the United States Supreme Court," Trump posted on his platform Truth Social.
The president argued the import duties have bolstered the nation's strength and international standing "far stronger and more respected than ever before," particularly regarding national security considerations.
However, US Treasury Department figures show actual net tariff collections from January through November of last year totaled $236.2 billion.
On Nov. 5, the US Supreme Court convened oral arguments examining whether Trump overstepped constitutional executive powers under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) when implementing certain tariff measures.
The Trump administration has signaled its intention to maintain tariff enforcement via backup legal frameworks should the high court rule against the government. The justices' forthcoming decision carries major consequences for the fate of billions in tariff-generated revenue streams.
